Directionally challenged party

I have hinted at a belief, echoed by many others, that the GOP is at a crossroads. I saw this article, and am interested in what y'all think. I am withholding comment for the moment. But, I think this is an interesting read.

I KNEW it was Objectivist, after a couple paragraphs. Helps to have suffered (halfway) through ATLAS SHRUGGED. No time for many thoughts, as it's late, but I felt compelled to point out that some people out there agree with me that Sarah Palin was a detriment to the GOP ticket this year. "Would've voted third party, instead" - yeah right, not most GOP members. Most people like it when their vote counts.

Oh, and I find the premise quite interesting, considering the fact that Greenspan, a Rand disciple, basically admitted that their strategy has been a failure.

Amanda is right. This is boiled down Ayn Rand. And Amanda, it sounds like you got through more of Atlas Shrugged than I've ever been able to.

The appeal of Rand is easy to see, because it's a self-contained universe. It has all the explanations and a substitute belief system, too. You see the same thing with the more fervent global warming acolytes.

The thread that unravels this whole thing -- the idea that faith is based on emotion. Nope. Not mine. Catholics believe that faith and reason travel together.

And the most risible part is pretending that the Randians aren't driven by emotion, too. Spend five minutes with one sometime and you'll see.

Many of the ideas found in this article have been previously reported prior to this article. In fact, it appears John David Lewis is an avid reader of OnTheBorderLine.
