Is this supposed to help?
Michelle Bachmann, who is a little too righty for me with her Bible-thumping ways, got into a little trouble for remarks made in an interview with Chris Matthews. So, her explanation is, "I stepped into a trap?!!" You basically admitted you are not savvy enough to avoid or beat a "trap" set up by Chris Matthews. First, you need to know that Chris Matthews is not sympathetic to your cause. Second, making remarks like that on Barack Obama when he has a huge lead in your state is not smart. You know, he just might have coattails...enough to elect a Dem congressman, even in a relatively conservative district like the Sixth.

Not enough time to talk about this now, good sir, but there's a lot more to this story than is immediately apparent. Where does a million dollars for E-Tink come from overnight?
Bachmann's mistake is backing down. She said what she said.
On one hand, if she believed what she said, she should have the courage of her convictions. That's another reason the whole "I walked into a trap" thing is pathetic. But, I stand by my assertion that she should have known what she was getting into.
As for the flood of money, I saw your post on Mr. D about it. If anyone investigates, it would be interesting to see how that dough materialized.
One of the articles listed 9000 people donating $450,000. Only about $50/donor. (I know the $ grew to 720k after, but didn't see a stat on the donor # at that point.) Affordable even in this economy. The awesome power of the internet significantly adds to the number of viewers of the Chris Matthews show, despite the 1% TV audience - this must be taken into consideration, and the story was hot enough. Unfortunately for District 6, none of these details, or suppositions about where the donations came from, changes the meaning of "anti" - "against." Anyone else we know in the world who is "against America?"

Amanda, I am willing to concede that the Dems smelled blood and flooded Elwyn's campaign with money. Living in Minneapolis, I see the anger at all things GOP, and it's palpable. Heck, I am pretty conservative and I am upset with the elephants. To me, they're a bunch of sellouts. But, you can understand why people might raise an eyebrow at how quickly things materialized, especially if they are not predisposed to the Democratic Party.
The Democrats are definitely feeling their oats though. I am still not convinced the GOP knows what hit it.
The more I think about this, the more I think Michelle Bachmann is toast. John Kline may be the only GOP legislator in Minnesota next year.
